INSTRUCTIONS: We invite you to request a classroom lesson on an aspect of LIGO science as a pre-visit activity or "Bringing LIGO Science to You."  One of our staff members can visit your school with materials and plans for activities listed below, and these can be tailored to point to specific objectives that you may wish to address. To request an "in school" field trip complete fields below, SUBMIT then CLEAR FORM.

Pre-Visit LIGO 101 These activities are to introduce your class to some of LIGO Science concept themes prior to your field trip.  The LIGO Science Themes include light, wave interference, gravity, resonance, oscillations, feedback, and astronomy and are suitable for all level.  These are pre-visit activities.
Interference Activities that use the ideas of interference and color subtraction to explain natural color phenomena seen in sea shells, hummingbird feathers and oil slicks for example. Suitable for all levels.
Waves We have multiple wave phenomena activities that can be brought to your classroom to illustrate wave concepts. Suitable for all levels.
Gravity We have hands-on, informal learning activities dealing with the concepts of spacetime, relativity and gravity.  These are suitable for upper middle and high school students.
Light and Color These hands-on classroom activities introduce light concepts and illustrate how we perceive color.  Suitable for all levels.
